Happy Christmas from the Alps
Monday December 22, 2008 - Email this article to a friend

We have some videos, a few pictures and tales of powder underfoot and blue skies overhead.

Christmas in the mountains is pretty good this year.

We're begining to lose count of the number of times we have said "the best start to a winter for years, decades, ever........" but  it seems to be true.

December 2008 will go down as a pretty good time to be out in the Alps. It remains to be seen what happens for the rest of the winter, but fingers crossed. So far, so good.

pg6_2_400We've had powder days, superb on piste skiing and we've even built a snowman outside our office in Verbier.

On the downsides we've been snowed in, had some dreadful driving conditions, been cut off in resorts and that's just the team from PlanetSKI

Elsewhere there have been power failures, scores of road accidents and sadly a number of avalanche deaths.  High levels of snow is not always good news, but for most of us it's brilliant.

Here's a short video from the top of Verbier with views across the Alps that are hard to beat.

And here's a few seasonal pictures from out in the Alps at the moment.

Happy Christmas!
