Britain gets a silver

Shelley Rudman comes second in a World Cup event in Lake Placid. It's a boost for our skeleton bob team who are real contenders for medals at next winter's Olympic Games.
The 28 year old was 0.23 seconds behind the winner, Mellisa Holingsworth from Canada. Britain also got a 4th position and a 9th position so morale within the team is high.
"It's been a good result for the whole team," said British Skeleton performance director Andi Schmid after the competition.
It follows a bronze position earlier this month from Kristan Bromley in the men's event, though in the latest event in Lake Placid he could only manage 9th.
They are some of our best medal hopes and for a look at which British athletes to look out for in the Vancouver Winter Olympics see the details below Shelley's photograph.
Gold prospect
The Winter Olympics takes place next February in Vancouver - see this preview story we had on PlanetSKI when it was exactly 100 days to go.
So, who are the British sportsmen and women to watch out for?
In the Women's two-man bob we have the current world champions, Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke.
In the skeleton we have real depth to the squad with Kristan Bromley, Shelley Rudman, Amy Williams and Adam Pengilly all possible medal winners.
In curling the men could do what the women did back at The Salt Lake City Games in 2002 and walk off with gold. The team, competing as Scotland, is the current world champions.
We have some other possibles too with Zoe Gillings ranked 5th in the world at snowboard-cross.
In skiing Chemmy Alcott is sounding confident but realistically she has an outside chance at best.
On the ice the Kerr siblings won bronze in European Figure Skating Championships and in the short-track speed skating Jon Eley, took silver in a recent 500m World Cup race.
None of them is exactly a household name but, fingers crossed, one of them might become so!
