Swiss increase flights from London

It plans to fly 6 daily flights from Heathrow to Geneva from January. It is though cutting back on its flights from London City airport.
It is reducing these from 6 to 4, which is a shame as it is one of the best ways to get to The Alps in the opinion of PlanetSKI.
However the increase in flights from Heathrow and the fact that ski equipment is carried free of charge by SWISS is, all in all, good news for skiers and snowboarders.
So, why the increase when everyone else in the airline world seems to be cutting back at the moment?
Well for a start 3 of the 6 flights will actually be operated by British Midland so the risk is reduced, but SWISS aims to take on the flights at a later date.
Flying the flagIt believes there is demand for the route and it can make the route profitable.
It's offering the flights at a competitive price, but it is always difficult to give a price as it depends on when you want to travel and, of course, the prices then vary all the time anyway.
Some prices we have seen offer a return flight for under £100 but the best thing is to check out your dates and see what is available.
However SWISS will be competing head on with easyJet, that flies out of Gatwick to Geneva, and it will have to deal with the fact that less skiers and snowboarders appear to be going independently this winter.
They seem to prefer opting for a package holiday, which is often cheaper, and gives a much clearer picture of what things will cost. There are certainly less extras than if you choose to go independently.
The service from Heathrow to Geneva is due to start on January 10th.
