The area fired up its lifts this week and PlanetSKI is there. There's half a metre of fresh snow, miles of slopes, acres of off piste and no-one around. Heaven!
It doesn't get much better really.
Today we skied hard and fast round the slopes above Tignes with barely a soul around, so you could really let rip on the perfectly groomed pistes.
We then tackled a fairly simple couloir and then headed over to neighbouring Val d'Isere.
Deserted at La DailleThe run down to La Daille was in near perfect condition and the pistes above Solaise were still groomed courdroy well into the afternoon.
Why more people don't ski and snowboard at this time I have no idea.
There are a handful of ski instructors on training courses, a few seasonaires out preparing for the winter season ahead and rather interestingly dozens and dozens of keen British skiers out on courses improving their technique so they can get the most out of the coming winter.
I'm staying with the company 'Inspired to Ski' that runs courses throughout the winter across The Alps and beyond. It's been going for almost a decade and seems to be going from strength to strength. The early and late season courses are especially popular though.
Next week it is coaching over 60 people in Tignes and bringing in extra instructors especially.
'Inspired to Ski' runs race training courses and special clinics for people who have been injured and are getting back into skiing after injury. They run all mountain performance clinics, sessions in the bumps and off piste instruction.
Above all they seem to make it fun.
Some of the lucky few"We always seem to get many British at this time of year as they come to improve their technique and enjoy our snowy slopes with hardly anyone around," says Stephanie Ailllet from the Tignes Tourist Office. "It's a special time of year to ski with good snow, low prices and you will have the place pretty much to yourself."
If you want to see what it looks like at the moment then check out the Photos of the week on the home page that features some images from Espace Killy this week.
The snow conditions are also covered in the PlanetSKI snow overview that features reports from resorts around the world.
Back in Tignes though it has been yet another excellent start to the season and with more snow set to fall over the coming days it appears things are about to get better.
The only advice we have here at PlanetSKI is book a flight and get out here.
You won't regret it!
See the video below, which also appears in our main snow report, of conditions in the Espace Killy.
Next week we will bring you a series of features on the courses run by 'Inspire to Ski', so don't forget to take a look if it is something you may be interested in.
