I'm having a sex change
Sunday December 6, 2009 - Email this article to a friend

That was the excuse a woman gave after she was caught using a lift pass belonging to a male.

According to reports in the US media a woman in Keystone ski resort in Colorado was caught using her boyfriend's lift pass but claimed she was in the middle of changing from a man to a woman.

When challenged about her gender by a lift operator when trying to use a pass owned by a man called Daniel, the woman, named as Wanda, is reported to have informed the operator that she was in the process of undergoing a sex change.

Even though she was now a woman she claimed to have been a man when she bought the pass.

Now we have heard a few excuses in our time at PlanetSKI of misbehaviour while out in the mountains, but this one stands out and even shows some remarkable quick thinking.Wink

Apparently the police called the boyfriend's father to verify her story and he was slightly mystified by the elaborate story and told them he knew nothing of the sex change and even thought the whole think was a prank.

He was certainly not expecting the police to tell him that his son had had a sex change operation.

The police then contacted her boyfriend directly who confirmed to them that she had borrowed his pass.

It's unclear whether she will face prosecution.

In a seperate development Vail resort has just announced a sharp rise in ski pass fraud.  This year the police have dealt with 188 cases of people using a stolen pass or one that doesn't belong to them.  For the same period the season before it was 82 cases.

The police and resort officials aren't sure whether the poor economy or better pass scanners are responsible for the rise.
