Swiss police have confirmed that it is the body of a missing Briitsh man, Myles Robinson. The 23-year old went missing last week ago after a night out in the resort. Police and family have been making extensive searches for him.
His body was found in a wooded area on the way down from Wengen to the village of Lauerbrunnen down in the valley, in an area near Zweilutschinen. The body was found on Monday afternoon not by the police or official search teams but by a private search party.
It is believed he fell from a well-known, but steep, footpath and he suffered fatal injuries in the fall.
No-one knows what he was doing there in the middle of the night and police says there is no evidence of the involvement of anyone else. Investigations though are continuing.
PlanetSKI has spoken to several people who regularly visit Wengen and say the family is devastated and it is a terrible shock to everyone that knows Myles.
“The body was discovered below the lookout point at Mönchsblick. It’s a very dangerous path in winter. It would seem that he fell and suffered fatal injuries. The post mortem showed no indication that anyone else was involved,” a police spokesman said. The police investigations are continuing.
The question though that everyone in the town is asking is, why he was there in the first place and at that time of night?
His parents, Michael and Sarah, went to the scene of his death on Monday night where a white tent covers the site of where the body was found.
Sarah Robinson is a former president of the British Alpine Racing Ski Club and the Ladies Ski Club. She is well known in the British ski racing world.
23- year old Myles Robinson went missing after a night out in the Swiss ski resort. His disappearance has baffled police, family and friends for the past 7 days with conflicting theories about his disappearance.
The hotel Eiger
Extensive searches were carried out and the Swiss army helped too with family and friends putting up posters round town and doing their own searching.
It was a family arranged search party that found his body and then alerted the police.
He was last seen at 2am on the morning of the 22nd December after escorting a family friend back to her hotel. The hotel where he was staying with his parents and sister, The Eiger, was just 200m away but he never arrived back.
We reported on the disappearance here on PlanetSKI and have been following the search for him as some thought the police were not doing enough.
We will bring you further news when we get it.
