Beijing has record snow
Thursday January 7, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
Snow seems to be falling all over the place, including China.
Beijing has had its largest snowfalls in almost 60 years with the ensuing problems to the transport system with roads closed, airports shut and the rail service disrupted.
Schools were closed and a huge clean up operation is under way. Thousands of people have been drafted in to help clear up the roads.
Meanwhile rescuers in Inner Mongolia saved 1,400 passengers from a train trapped for 30 hours in huge snowdrifts.
And whilst its been very cold in Beijing, it has been very, very, very cold in parts of Inner Mongolia with temperatures plummeting to -30°C .... Brrrrrrrr!
This video gives us a clearer picture of conditions in China.
For more information and a further video of the clean up operation see here.
Beijing has already had large snowfalls this winter as we have earlier reported on PlanetSKI.
