Disabled skier still on good form - Ben Clatworthy, Racing and Sports Correspondent

Britain's No 1 Disabled skier, Sean Rose, has continued his run of success after finishing in the top 10 at the first World Cup event of the season.

Following the Christmas break the British Disabled ski team headed to RollRinn in Austria for the first World Cup races of the season.

In the Giant Slalom race Rose was provisionally in 8th place after the first run, but a fall in the second dashed his chances of a podium place. He did not finish the race.

In the Slalom though Rose skied to perfection.

An early bib number left Rose waiting at the bottom of the course to watch the other competitor's. After the first run Rose was in a provisional 2nd place, bettered only by Martin Braxenthaler from Germany. The second run course was harder and Sean slightly mis-timed his fourth turn causing him to skid badly. He held on but had lost a lot of time.

His medal hopes had been dashed, but Rose still managed to finish in a very credible 5th place.

"In my first run I was only 0.5 seconds behind multiple Paralympic and Word Cup medalist Martin Braxenthaler of Germany which put me in second place. It felt awesome but I re-focused for the second run. The course was rough, as 70 skiers had passed over it before me. At the fourth gate, I slid sideways and pushed to get going again. Having lost so much time, I got mad and threw caution to the wind which produced some of the best slalom skiing I've ever done," he said after the race.

Rose has being skiing well all winter and has picked up 4 medals in the first 8 races of the season.

He has now moved to Abtenau in Austria where the next leg of the World Cup series takes place this week and he will no doubt be hoping to better his performance again and take home a medal.
