Ed Drake does well
Friday January 22, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

Britain's' No 1 male ski racer tackled the Hahnnenkamm in his first race since November and puts in a good performance. It bodes well for next month's Olympic Games.

He came 42nd in the Super-G and although that sounds way down the field he was only 2.38 seconds off the winning time set by Didier Cuche of Switzerland.

He spoke to PlanetSKI shortly after the race.

"I was delighted with my performance considering that I haven't been in a competitive race since last November due to illness and although coming 42nd was down the field I was just over a couple of seconds behind the winner which I'm reasonably pleased with.  Also it was amazing just to compete on the most famous course of them all; the Hannenkamm in Kitzbuhel.  I have watched it on TV for many years and just to be in the starting gate, up against the best in the world was amazing - it was an unbelievable experience."

Drake goes on to Les Orres in France next week for a Europa Cup event.  In his last Europa cup race in November he got a podium position, as we reported on PlanetSKI.

We will bring you further news from Kitzbuhel over the weekend.
