Freeride World Tour postponed

The first leg of the event in Sochi, Russia, had to be called off because of bad weather. It will happen in Chamonix instead.
Heavy snow and strong winds has meant the organisers have had to call off the event. They waited and watched for 10 days for the weather to clear and the conditons to be safe, but sadly it didn't happen. It will be held in Chamonix after the Nissan Freeride de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.
As security is key for the Freeride World Tour competitions, organiser Nicolas Hale-Woods and the team of mountain guides decided that the heavy snowfall and high winds over the last 24 hours would not allow the riders to be safe.
The Nissan Freeride de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is scheduled for Saturday, January 30th, and the Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch will take place the next possible day using the start list established in Sochi.
Riders will meet in Chamonix for both events. It is the first time a leg has been held in Chamonix, now it has two!
The line up is good with the top riders in the world after the Freeride World Champion 2010 title.
Last winter on PlanetSKI we followed the competion closely and was part of a judging team in Tignes and were there for the final in Verbier.
See the video below of a report from Verbier last winter which will give you an idea of what it's like.
