Free wireless at Geneva
Monday January 25, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

One of our readers told us and reckons we should pass on the good news to fellow air travellers. It is high speed too.

Our reporters spend quite a bit of time at Geneva airport and have been using it this winter writing stories and uploading video as they wait for planes and transfers.

We never actually thought about passing on the good news until a reader emailed in and told us.

We reckoned that if we use it alot and people were emailing us to telll us then others might like to know too.

In the past we have used a café in the railway station where you get free access if you buy a coffee, it is the one at the bottom of the escalatorFree wi-fi areaFree wi-fi area, but now you can do it from the departure lounges and other areas of the airport.

All you do is check signal availability, click on the Geneva airport one, send them your mobile phone number and they then instantly send you a code allowing you to use it for 1 hour.

There is no charge and so far we have received no spam texts or telephone calls.

While we are on the subject of Geneva airport we thought we'd remind you that SWISS has now started its service of 6 daily flights from London Heathrow to the airport.

Increased frequencyIncreased frequencyWe reported on the news here, back in November last year.

We have used the route a few times and prices have been very reasonable.

And of course, as a bonus, you can take your skis or snowboard for free.

And finally Geneva has undergone a bit of re-furbishment and the customs have moved to just before you get to the departure gate while the security is at the front where the customs used to be.

As far as we're concerned it's a big improvement and things seem to go much quicker than they used to.
