Olympic Preview: On The Track - Ben Clatworthy, Racing Correspondent
Wednesday January 27, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

With the Olympics almost upon us we take a look at the British team and who might, just might, bring back a medal. PlanetSKI takes a look at the Skelton, Luge and Bobsleigh.

It's an area where our medal hopes come from.

Team GB has had past success and is in optimistic mood.

Skelton

One of Britain's greatest medal hopes comes in the Skelton; Shelly Rudman, won a sliver medal at the 2006 Turin games. It was Britain's only medal at the last Olympics.

Shelly has been finishing in consistently high places this season, including a World Cup win in St Moritz earlier this month. She finished 2nd place overall in the World Cup this season. Shelly will be hoping to top the podium in Vancouver this winter. See this related PlanetSKI story here.

Having already competed in two Winter Olympics, Kristan Bromley is expected to be a big feature at the 2010 games.

He won silver in St Moritz during the World Cup and finished the season in 6th Place overall.

Also hoping to make it to the games is Amy Williams, 2009 World Championships silver medalist. Amy has also been competing at the top of her game this season, and following 3 top five finishes in this year's World Cup everything is to play for.

Amy is on top form and yet another GB medal hope.

Bobsleigh

Nicola Minchiello and Gillian Cooke have been on a rollercoaster ride since last year when they won Gold at the World Championships in Lake Placid.

Success continued this season when the pair finished 7th and 8th in the first two World Cup races. Nicola had just returned from injury after she suffered loss of sight in her left eye. The pair are expected to be listed for the Olympics on 26 January.

Lee Johnston has been competing in bobsledge since 1995 and has competed in three Winter Olympics to date. Lee finished 10th place in the two-man event at the 2006 Turin Olympics.

Luge

Adam Rosen carries the flag for Great Britain in the luge event.

He competed in the 2006 Turin Olympics, finishing a creditable 16th place. He finished 6th Place in Luge World Cup in Calgary, Canada during 2008-2009 World Cup Season.

He hopes to be better is results once again in Vancouver this year.
