Ice climbing in a car park
Tuesday January 26, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
Top ice climbers were in Saas-Fee last weekend, not competing up on one of the glaciers but in the local multi-storey car park.
Over 100 ice climbers turned out to compete with almost 200 volunteers helping out to ensure it all went smoothly.
But instead of going up to the glacier they competed somewhere far better for the spectators - the multi-storey car park.
The event has been going for 11 years and is now run by local mountain guide, Kurt Arnolds. However the sponsors, North Face, have just pulled out which is causing a few worries for the future.
For the result see here and see the pictures we have received from PlanetSKI reader, Connie Albert, who was there for the event.
