French dominate Freeride World Tour

The postponed first round of the Freeride World Tour has taken place. It was due to be held in Russia last month but was called off and moved to Chamonix. It was held in perfect conditions with 2 Frenchmen winning.
The men's skiing event was won by Julien Lopez who pushed the winner of the previous event, Candide Thovex, into second place.
Xavier de la Rue won the men's snowboarding event.
The round in Sochi was called off after the athletes waited 10 days for the storm to pass but conditions were judged too dangerous to hold the competition so it was moved to Chamonix instead.
The same agreed start line up from Sochi was used but it was held in Flegere instead.
Only the men skiers and snowboarders took part in today’s contest, at the north east face of Aiguille Pourrie at the Flégère ski area.
A bonus for Chamonix as last weekend it held its own round of the competition, so people got two for the price of one.
The men's snowboarding winner, Xavier de la Rue, is the current FWT world champion after taking the crown last season.
Here's Julien Lopez with his run from last weekend's Freeride event in Chamonix.
