Girls night in Spanish resorts
Friday February 5, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

It's Santa Águeda day today and girls have the right to relieve men of their shirts, or anything else that takes their fancy.

Apparently it's well celebrated in the ski resort of Formigal in the Spanish Pyrenees.

This annual party, celebrated in villages throughout Spain, is in honour of the early Christian martyr, Santa Águeda (or Saint Agatha) who was cruelly tortured and eventually killed, but not before both her breasts were brutally cut off.

During the last centuries, Santa Águeda's stoic Christian beliefs and high moral values of virginity and chastity have oddly been replaced by a more hedonistic attitude, but she still represents strong women.

As a final honour to her sacrifice, kind of, desserts served on the night of the 5th February are two round cakes with cherries on top.

So if you are a man in a Spanish ski resort then you have been warned, or if you are woman then you'd better keep an eye on your other half.

With thanks to Crystalski for the information.
