Mid-week in Chamonix
Monday February 8, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
If you want to have a ski break during the week it's often difficult to find a hotel as they want to sell for a full week. Chamonix is trying to do something about it.
The tourist office has teamed up with 25 hotels to offer breaks that do not include a Friday or Saturday night.
Chamonix is a resort popular with weekenders as it is under an hour from Geneva and highly accessible both from within France and abroad.
However, it means rooms are often empty during the week.
The scheme offers breaks from 2 to 5 days and goes under the brand name 'Simply Chamonix'
Stunning sceneryIt offers a 2* room at €39 per night and a 4* at €83, including breakfast. It is based on 2 sharing a double room.
"We set up this service up several years ago to try to help promote mid week stays as the hotels are always inundated with long week-end requests and hence have lots of space mid-week," says Claire Burnett from the tourist office.
Seems a pretty good idea to us here at PlanetSKI.
