Trapped man on ski lift burns money
Monday February 22, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
As night fell a German man caught on a closed ski lift in Austria sets fire to paper handkerchiefs, receipts and then money. He did it to be seen.
He apparently got on a ski lift to go down despite the fact that warning signs told people not to do so.
The lift stopped at the end of the day and he was trapped 10m above the ground.
He did not have a mobile phone and no-one heard his cries for help.
He lit paper with his cigarette lighter before turning to money.
For more details see this story on the BBC.
A piste patrol saw the flames and came to his rescue.
He was taken to hospital and is said to be none the worse for his ordeal.
