The resort of Galtür claims it as the biggest in Austria and possibly Europe.
The snowsure ski resort of Galtür in the Austrian Tirol is claiming Europe's tallest snowman title for the incredible 55 feet tall snowman who now resides on the slopes.
It took five days to build Emil the giant snowman and he's now turning into something of a tourist attraction as he gazes across the Paznaun valley.
Largest in Austria?"This is the second year running we have built a giant snowman and it's so popular that I think it will become a regular feature in Galtür. This is definitely Austria's biggest snowman and we
think that at 16.70 metres high he is the largest in Europe," a spokesman from the local tourist office told PlanetSKI.
Not to be outdone, the neighbouring resort of Ischgl is holding its annual 'Shapes in White' exhibition where teams of sculptors shape blocks of snow - this year's theme is Aliens.
If anyone knows of a bigger snowman then please do let us know.
We built the one below outside the PlanetSKI office in Verbier at New Year but don't think it's in quite the same league. But it only took us about 20 minutes and we had a snowball fight in the middle too. He was nicknamed Snowy before he melted away!
