Girls on Tour, Part 2
Wednesday March 3, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

So, what do girls get up to on a weekend break in a ski resort without their husbands and boyfriends? Morwen Williams reports from Chamonix, a resort with gentle skiing and quiet nightlife.

Inevitably we didn't hit the slopes quite as early as we planned. In fact we managed to have hot fresh croissants picked up on the way back to the apartment.

Such good planning and utilisation of time.

It was a miracle that we were on the bus, albeit on a mystery tour of the town going the wrong way at one point, before 10.

And enjoying the runs and sunshine in Brevent-Flegere not long after 10.

The slopes were remarkably uncrowded - all to our advantage.

It was a fantastic day skiing, and only a few traces of the good night before held us back.

Red runs with red eyes.

Pounding slopes with pounding heads. And lots of singing on chair lifts.

Bleary eyed, but thereBleary eyed, but thereMainly Abba, but we branched out with that good little song from Gavin and Stacy every now and again.

By 4pm, the slopes were virtually empty, and the slight slush was just freezing over again, making for some great speed on the last few runs home.

We had a big night planned for the Saturday - having booked a dinner at Le Cabane des Pras at the Golf Club out in Le Praz. A fantastic place, great food.

And only £10 for a gin and tonic - bargain!

We were entertained by a table magician who was wonderfully camp and stole our watches, pens, rings without us noticing. Maybe he relies on over indulgence to dull the senses?

Time to inspect the many bars - though some of us were asleep standing up. Literally.

We found a crowded lively place with a man playing guitar in a tank top. Great music. No clothes sense.

We sang our hearts out to "Can't Take My Eyes off You" and wondered why a banker (rhyming slang) would fork out €185 on a magnum of champagne for just him and his "friend".

Back to the G 'n' Ts for us..........

See here for Girls on Tour, Part 1.

So, what did happen on that first night?
