Bode's Olympic helmet up for auction

It is the hemet he wore in the final race, the men's slalom, on February 27^th.

It wasn't his most successful of events at The Vancouver Games, as he missed a gate on his first run, but it does come from The Winter Olympics where he won gold, silver and bronze.

The money raised will go to help treat a former US Ski Technician, Pam Warman, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She received the diagnosis 7 weeks ago following a routine check up.

"Bode has always been an extremely generous guy. I remember him buying U.S. Ski Team jackets for the Development Team a while ago," says Warman. "No one knew where they came from. Bode didn't want the credit, he just wanted to help out."

Some on eBay have question whether it is the real helmet and a signed letter of authentication is now being obtained from Bode.

It should raise considerable amounts as the last time an ietm of Bode's was auctioned off was his bib for from the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbuhel.

All the racers auctioned them off to riase money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.  Bode's went for £2,200.

Julia Mancuso, who won two silver medals for the USA in the Vancouver Games, and other ski team members are also donating items to raise money for Warman.

The auction ends on March 10^th.

Meanwhile Lindsey Vonn is aucting items to help people from Haiti. She is auctioning skis and poles and the money raised will go to the Red Cross.  She won a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze in the super-G.
