Ski slope for Ghana
Sunday March 7, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
It is being proposed by the Ghanian skier, Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, who competed in the Vancouver Olympics. He attracted world wide publicity for his interest and commitment to skiing.
'The Snow Leopard,' has decided to finish his competitive career after finishing 47th. He was second to last out of those who finished the course.
Kwame first learned to ski when working at the indoor SNO!zone centre in Milton Keynes 5 years ago and in the months prior to the Olympics was sponsored by The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead, north of London.
See here for further information on his story.
Kwame now plans to open a grass skiing slope in Ghana, and has announced that he has found a suitable site.
Heavy machinery will be required to smooth out the slope that will then be seeded before grass skiing can begin.
Here at PlanetSKI we'll let you know how he gets on.
