Tuesday March 9, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
If you've never skied in Scotland then check out the video of what it like. It's had a good winter with bumper levels of snow and record number of visitors, so it seems a pretty good time to take a look at skiing there.
There are many myths about skiing in Scotland.
Some love it and swear it is the soul of British sking, while others simply turn their noses up at just the prospect of it.
The PlanetSKI content editor, James Cove, takes a personal and objective look at skiing in Cairngorm - the skiing, the resort and the surrounding area.
There are 4 other ski areas in Scotland - Glenshee, Glencoe, The Nevis Range and The Lecht. All are different and offer their own experience. Later this month we'll be hearing from The Lecht.
For more information see this related story on how skiing has gone in Scotland this winter, a recent world record set for the number of skiers and snowboarders coming down the mountain in their kilts and his blog about the visit.
For an interview with the Chief Executive of Cairngorm, Ian Whitaker, see below.
Below are a few photos of the area.

Meanwhile there are some more pictures of the Scottish landscape on the Photos of the Week on the home page.
