Thick fog and heavy snow have disrupted the alpine skiing events at Whistler. The Games opened on Saturday but all the skiing events at the resort were postponed. The heavy snow has caused a large scale avalanche accident elsewhere.
The recent winter Olympics were plagued by poor weather and now it appears to be the turn of The Paralympics.
"The men's and women's downhill events, scheduled for Saturday, have been postponed due to poor visibility caused by persistent fog," the Vancouver Paralympic organizers announced in a news release.
The bad weather is set to continue for the next few days but may clear up towards the end of the week.
We will bring you a PlanetSKI feature on The Games shortly with a look at the British prospects for medal success.
Sean Rose stands a good chance of taking gold in The Downhil.
The Winter Games last month were be-set by bad weather especially at Cypress Mountain where snow had to be flown in and a huge operation was mounted to build the courses due to a lack of snow and warm temperatures.
The heavy snow has caused a serious avalanche accident elsewhere in Canada. A snowmobile event at Boulder Mountain in British Columbia was hit by an avalanche. 3 people are reported to have died and a number are seriously injured. 200 people were at the event.
