Snowjet announces winter flights
Friday May 14, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
The airline is increasing its flights to Sion in Switzerland, alongside existing flights to Chambery in France.
Snowjet introduced the Stansted to Sion route last winter and will now offer it on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the high season.
The advantage is that it gives easier access to many of the popular Swiss resorts including Verbier, Zermatt, Saas-Fee and Crans-Montana.
Also the airport is small and therefore a much more pleasant experience all round with shorter queues for baggage, passport control and other facilities.
However the price of a ticket can be higher and the weather can close the airport and flights then get diverted.
For example a return flight from Stansted to Sion on Saturday 19th February 2011 and returning on Saturday 26th is £499.98. A flight on the same dates at similar times with easyJet from Luton to Geneva is £296.98. Prices though do vary considerably.
Snowjet allows 20kg of luggage and last winter offered free ski carriage at certain times of the season.
The cheapest single fare in low season is £79.
The airline also flies into Chambery from Stansted, Bristol, Manchester and Gatwick.
Chambery is less susceptible to adverse weather and gives good access to the main French resorts in the Tarantaise.
