Bode Miller tries for US Open
Saturday June 5, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

He's mad keen at tennis and has attempted to get a wild card entry into the event. He was beaten though in a qualifying match.

If he was thinking about ending his skiing career with a move into professional tennis he should perhaps think again.

He was defeated in a qualifying tournament in Hawaii where he was beaten by 31-year-old Erik Nelson-Kortland.

Miller has always been a keen tennis player and we spoted on the tennis courts of Saas-Fee last October as he began his training for last season and the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

He had a highly successful winter Games winning a gold, sliver and bronze.

He couldn't do quite as well at tennis though.

"Tennis has always been a part of my life," said Miller in a press release issued by the U.S. Ski Team. "I've played my whole life and I'm a top level athlete, but I can get beat by high school kids or guys who were 500 in the world 20 years ago."
