The International Ski Federation wants to have a women's ski jumping World Cup series for next winter. It means it may become an Olympic event. Finally.
Women ski jumpers were not allowed to compete at the last Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
The women fought a high profile campaign through the Canadian courts but failed to get it included.
We reported on it here on PlanetSKI.
The International Olympic Committee said the sport lacked a world-class competition.
Now though things are set to change with a world cup series.
Next time round?FIS is asking the International Olympic Committee to add women's ski jumping to the 2014 Sochi Winter Games program.
The sport has had a world championship but it was deeed to not be established enough.
The inaugural women's ski jumping World Championship, held in 2009, was won by the American Lindsey Van.
It appears there may be several new winter sports as ski half pipe is set to be included and snowboard slopestyle may make it too.
We reported on the potential inclusion of these new sports, here on PlanetSKI.
