The accolade comes from the governing body of skiing and snowboarding, FIS. It's part of its campaign to encourage children to take up snow sports whether, it be recreational or racing.
The campaign, Bring Children to Snow, was launched last year and aimed to recognise the best examples of bringing children to the snow in varying national circumstances.
It especially wanted to find examples of projects that succeeded in getting youngsters onto the snow for the first time and helping create long-term interest in snow activities.
The Barnas Skiklubb in Norway was judged to have done this the best with its activities for children.
Lifetime of fun aheadProgrammes in the USA and German were also recognised.
The top three award winners were decided by the FIS Council from among the 8 finalists.
Altogether, 23 projects representing 19 National Ski Associations competed for the awards.
A three-member jury selected the eight finalists from among all the entries.
1. Barnas Skiklubb, Norway
2. Maine Winter Sports Center, Healthy Hometowns Program, USA
