Hahnenkamm poster revealed
Friday July 2, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

It has been designed by a local Austrian after the organisers decided to hold a competition. They threw it open for anyone to have a go.

114 artists participated in the 2010 Poster Competition for the 71st Hahnenkamm Race.

There were 209 poster designs.

"We didn't anticipate that our competition would generate so much interest," said the President of the Ski Club and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Michael Huber.

The oldest participant was 85 years old and the youngest 16.

The judging panel has said it was a tricky decision to pick the winner.

After viewing the submissions several times and after much debate a design by Johannes Maria Braun, from Linz in Austria, was chosen.

It is titled "King of the race."

"When I heard about this competition, a song sprang to mind. "Hero for one day" are some of the words in the song's lyrics and that was the foundation for my work," said Braun.

We reported on the launch of the competition earlier in the year here on PlanetSKI.
