Cows on the attack
Friday July 9, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

In Austria a farmer has died and a woman out walking has been savaged. 'Be carefull' is the warning from officials after a number of 'cow attacks'.

We normally think the male of the bovine species is to be treated with caution.

Bulls certainly have a more aggressive image.

However cows are threatening too.

A 51-year old farmer has died this month after he was trying to get a cow into a lorry in Lower Austria.

The animal savaged him and he died of chest injuries.

In another incident a 30-year old woman was attacked by a cow after her dogs barked at the cow's calf.

The woman was walking in the Austrian countryside with her mother and 3 dogs.

When the dogs barked the 600-kilo cow leapt over a fence and attacked the woman.

The woman collapsed and needed hospital treatment.

Animal experts in Austria are now warning walkers to be careful and to exercise caution.
