It is currently in the Pyrenees for 4 days of tough cycling including 2 climbs of the mighty Col du Tourmalet. Thousands upon thousands of spectators are lining the route.
It is the most punishing of routes. The weekend saw the race go from Revel to the ski resort of Ax-3 Domaines with 2 mighty climbs including the Port de Pailheres.
Then there is the first climb of the Tourmalet.
After a much-needed rest day on Wednesday the riders turn around on Thursday and cross the mountains in the other direction, to end at the same place.
The Tourmalet is widely seen as one of the hardest sections of this year's race.
Armstrong; his race is overThe battle is firmly between last year's victor, Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck of Luxembourg.
The 7 times winner, Lance Armstrong, is now well out of contention and is 40 minutes behind in 38th place.
He has admitted that his race is over and that he will play no role in who wins and looses.
The mountains will also decide the winner of the polka-dot jersey that belongs to the best climber.
At the moment it is the Frenchman, Anthony Charteau.
However with the bigger climbs later this week the wearer of the polka dot jersey is far from decided.
