Sod summer, bring on winter
Thursday August 12, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
Well not quite because may of us are on the beach and enjoying the August sunshine but we thought it a good time to remind ourselves of winter. Check out the videos, the photos and our latest snow report.
Here are a few of the latest videos that are being released at the moment. And one from yesteryear too.
We brought you one in this story earlier this month on PlanetSKI and it proved rather popular.
Now, as promised, here are some others.
First the trailer from "Light the Wick".
It's all a long way from the beach, but great to look at. And reminds us here at PlanetSKI of what is only a few months away here in the northern hemisphere.
Next, Subaru of New England presents an East Coast Ski Thriller by Meathead Films: "Work It Out"
From record-breaking 5 foot blizzards in Washington DC to 10 inches of rain in New England, Meathead Films spent the winter of 2010 scouring the East Coast on the hunt for epic days.
And, just to remind ourselves of the old days, here's something from times gone by.
Skiing old style.
Handknitted jumpers, stretchy pants, wiggly bottoms and skiing with legs firmly glued together.
The You Tube video below features some famous names including the legendary Stein Eriksen, former alpine skier and Olympic Gold medalist, along with Jim McConkey.
He is considered to be the father of extreme skiing and the father of the legendary, Shane McConkey.
Click here for tributes to Shane McConkey along with some other videos.
Meanwhile here is something a little more up-to-date.
NZ Open Slopestyle 2010 from Jase Hancox BASKET PRODUCTIONS on Vimeo.
Do check back and we'll show you a few more videos we are being sent at the moment.
Winter is not so far off......
Check out the photos of the week on the home page too.
