A hotel made of wood
Friday August 13, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
The 4* Fortsthofalm has opened in the Austrian ski resort of Leogang. It been built out of hundreds of tonnes of wood. And a few other materials too.
It has an eco theme to it and uses alternative energy sources wherever possible.
The wood itself has all been sourced locally.
Leogang is part of the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski area and the hotel has a ski in/ski out location.
Along with the eco philosophy, the hotel has also got an interesting architectural design and will highlight the arts, with a different visiting artist's work on display each year.
It offfers well-being in the spa to create what the hotel describes as, "a harmonious whole."
Now here at PlanetSKI we haven't been there, or indeed researched it, but we can let you take a look at its web site and make your own mind up about its eco credentials.
