Get your US visa now
Wednesday August 11, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
If you are skiing or snowboarding there next winter you will have to buy a visa from next month. Get one in August though and it is still free.
The electronic visa will cost $14 (£9) from September 8th.
The move has been criticised by travel operators and agents who say it could deter people from going to the USA and call it another tax on tourists.
Here at PlanetSKI we advise you to get an ESTA visa now while it is free,(Electronic System for Travel Authorisation).
It will last you for 2 years or until your current passport expires.
The charge will apply to everyone entering the United States on the Visa Waiver Program.
This allows people from around 50 countries, including Britain, to enter the US without a visa.
According to some reports bogus web sites are being set up and charge people more than the $14.
For more information see here.
North America, the USA and Canada, was the destination for 5.6% of the British ski and snowboard market last winter, down from 6.5% the previous year.
