Skiing in Scotland
Thursday August 19, 2010 - Email this article to a friend

It is still possible to ski in Scotland. Just! We have been sent a You Tube video of someone coming down the Coire Cas headwall at Cairngorm last weekend.

We all know Scotland had a record-breaking season last winter and now we can see that some of the snow is still there.

The lady in the video below, Helen, manages 8 turns on the snow remaining.

It's a long walk up but looks well worth it for the view alone.

Quite a few people walk up and ski down the small areas of snow that remain during the summer months in Scotland. Scottish skiers and snowboarders are a pretty fanatical lot.

Helen has apparently done it often.

Not many people show us what it is like on You Tube though.

Seems Helen is a bit of a fan of summer skiing as she was up there on August 2nd too.

That time she made 9 turns before disappearing from view, so perhaps that means the snowpack is shrinking as the weather takes its toll.

If you want to see what it was like last winter at Cairngorm then take a look at the video below, made by our content editor.

He also blogged about his first time skiing in Scotland and it was one the most read blogs of the winter.

This video of hundreds of people skiing in their kilts got a few views too on PlanetSKI. And a world record.

For more details about the event see here.

Maybe Helen is there somewhere.
