Is this the best job in the world?
Sunday September 5, 2010 - Email this article to a friend
Canyons is offering a season's lift pass, accommodation, skiing every day, access to all the resort events and a decent salary. In return all you have to do is blog about your experiences. In reality though it's a simple PR stunt.
The resort in Utah is currently offering the position and there doesn't, at first sight, even seem to be a catch.
You will get put up in a 'superior' suite at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, the salary is $10,000 a month, you will get to shadow the avalanche patrol, ski with the heli-skiing guides and attend all the VIP events at the resort.
You will even be issued with a camera and laptop to record and report about it all.
Oh, and the resort will pay for your travel too.
The work doesn't seem too arduous, as you will have to blog three or four times a week.
You may get a bit fed up writing and filming a load of PR stuff and no doubt you will have to say everything is brilliant all the time, but it looks like a pretty good number to us here at PlanetSKI.
If you are interested or you just want to dream then see here.
To enter you have to make 2-minute video and a written report explaining how you'll do the job. You'll also have to be 21-years of age or older, and eligible to work in the U.S.
Applications close on November 15th.
The resort used to be known as The Canyons but has just changed its name and has made a few other alterations to the resort as we reported here on PlanetSKI.
Including putting in a chairlift with an orange hood and heated seats.
So, why is the resort doing it?
Here is the answer on Canyons Facebook page:
"Hi guys, please keep in mind that this is a marketing program that is designed to drive traffic to our website and increase sales to be honest. We're just trying to get everyone talking about us!"
