British snow Tour kicks off today

Now in its ninth year it has undergone a few changes for this Autumn. New format, new ranking system and new web site. PlanetSKI will be following it all as it starts this weekend.
The new competition format is aiming to get more people involved and give riders more time on the slopes.
The new national ranking system for snowboarders and freeskiers wants to keep the progression of UK snowboarding and freeskiing in a constant state of evolution according to the organisers.
They organise the British Snow Tour and BRITS events.
- New for 2010 will be new Big Air and Slopestyle Jam Sessions with many spot prizes up for grabs.
- A three run National Championship competition format where the best run counts.
- A new British Snow Tour Seeded Riders list.
- 3 for 2 offers on competition entry price.
- A British Snow Tour Ranking list and new revised Kids and Youth age categories with Kids 12-years old and under. The Youth category is 13-years old to 16.
Best of British
The tour starts with the British Artificial Championships on 11th and 12th September at the Norfolk Snowsports Centre.
It includes the British Dryslope Championships, Giro Big Air, Protest Slopestyle and Trespass Snowboard/Skiercross Championships.
The British Indoor Championships follow a week later on 19th September with the Trespass Snowboard/Skiercross Championships and Rail Jam at the Glasgow SNO!zone.
The following week, 25th September, it's the Giro Big Air Championships at Milton Keynes SNO!zone, and then a fortnight later, on 9th October, the Protest Slopestyle Championships at Castleford SNO!zone.
The tour rounds of with the British Invitational Championships on 22nd October at the London Ski and Snowboard Show.
The British Snow Tour, which is part of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, provides riders with a path from grass roots participation through to the highest level of snowboard and freeski competition in the UK.
It is open to all ability levels from novice to pro and has five categories: Kids, Youth, Junior, Senior and Masters.
The tour also incorporates a schools tour providing 500 free introductory lessons, free product testing, live music and MC.
