Woman sues after roof snow side

The woman was hit by snow and ice as it slid of a roof in Mt Baker in the USA. She was severely injured and is now claiming compensation.

Patricia Miller was hit as the accumulation fell off the roof of the White Salomon Lodge in the resort. 

She is claiming millions of dollars in compensation.

She was partly paralysed in the accident and had other injuries.

The ski resort is in Washington state.

A 3-week trial is reaching its conclusion and the jury has now gone out to consider the evidence.

Its conclusions could have far reaching implications and other ski resorts are watching the case closely.

Clearing up in The AlpsClearing up in The AlpsIn Europe some resorts take the issue very seriously.

Val d'Isere warns people to be careful and even to stay indoors after significant snowfalls.

We have reported on it in the past including within this story.

Other resorts make efforts to keep roofs clear.

Falling icicles can also cause problems as we found out at PlanetSKI a couple of winters ago when a group of children near our office in Verbier was almost hit by icicles that were bigger than they were.

We will let you know the result of the case in the USA when the jury returns with its verdict.

It is being watched closely in North America.
