Heavenly Gunbarrel 25 weekend
Friday May 20, 2011 - Email this article to a friend

Glen Plake is over in the US for a spot of skiing at Heavenly ski resort. Whilst there, he has once again hosted and opened the 8th Annual Gunbarrel 25 weekend.

He is, of course, renowned for his spiky Mohican but he's swapped it for a more sedate beany hat in the video below.

Which look do you prefer? We go for Mohican every time.

Plake, now lives full-time in Chamonix, but he returns to the US several times a season.

The Gunbarrel seems like a never-ending mogul-carousel where at least 25 laps are compulsory. One statistic stands out though - there are 1,800 vertical feet or approximately 549 vetical metres, multiply that by a minimum of 25 laps and .... ouch!

Our knees hurt just working out the maths.

Heavenly's Gunbarrel mogul fields are notoriously difficult. Have a look at the video and judge for yourself.

Iron Man, Iron Woman and Iron Kids titles were awarded as follows.

Iron Man was Dave Sannazzaro with 42 laps. Two kids were incredible and were appropriately named Iron Kids each managing 38 laps. The Iron Kids are Dino Ambrosi and Liam Galbaith.

Whilst Kimberely Plake (his wife) took the Iron Woman title with 36 laps.

Do you think you could handle at least 25 laps on the most brutal mogul run in the world?
