The British band will be performing at the Altitude Festival in Klosters next season. Duran Duran has sold 80m records and was the fabvourite band of the Princess of Wales. Klosters is the resort where Price Charles skis.
The 1980s chart toppers will play in the Swiss ski resort on Saturday 21st January 2012.
The new festival will be taking place alongside the Klosters Snow Polo tournament that runs from 18th - 22nd January 2012.
It is described as a boutique festival that will bring chic, contemporary and occasionally slightly crazy entertainment to the alpine village.
Duran Duran is the opening headline act. The band made a comeback recently and last year released its 13th studio record "All you need is now."
It is supported by the Swiss pop group Pegasus from Biel whose big breakthrough came when the band recently opened for Coldplay at the Stade de Suisse.
In 2010, Pegasus won a Swiss Music Award for Best National Newcomer and the band has just released its third album, 'HumanTechnology'.
21st century Duran Duran
Many bands now play at music festivals in The Alps with the more well-known ones being the opening and closing concerts at Ischgl, Caprices in Crans-Montana and snowbombing at Mayrhofen.
This weekend the Swedish duo, Rozette, play at Ischgl.
