Good snow for racers and mere mortals alike

The PlanetSKI video snow report comes from the training base for the US Ski Team as we see the brightest young star in training. The 16-year old skiing sensation Mikaela Shiffrin is part of the US team based in the Austrian resort of Obergurgl.
It has been a frustrating few weeks for racers and holiday skiers alike.
All have welcomed the new snow but the reality has been that many people on ski holidays have had enormous problems getting in and out of resorts.
Once there many lifts and runs were closed due to high winds and the danger of avalanches.
There was little sun and plenty of white outs. Hardly ideal.
For the national race teams in the Alps it has been a similar story as snow and winds meant training could not take place
Now though that has changed.
Our weekly video snow report comes from the US Team base and has a look at the training of Mikaela Shiffrin.
At 16-years old she has already been on a World Cup podium after taking 3rd place last December in the slalom in Lienze in Austria.
The youngest US skier to make the podium for more than 30 years.
For a related story on the US team see here and we will be bringing you a special Chairlift Chat with Mikaela shortly.
For more information about Obergurgl see the resort web site. James Cove was staying the Granat Schloessl Hotel where prices start at €105 per person per night on Half Board.
