Water skiing world record
Wednesday February 1, 2012 - Email this article to a friend

154 water skiers in Australia got up, 9 fell over but 145 managed the distance and were pulled for a nautical mile behind a single boat. It took place inside Macquarie Harbour in Strahan, Tasmania.

The 35m catamaran boat was fitted with special propellers and a 100m aluminium boom to stop the five miles of rope getting caught up.

The water skiers broke their previous record of 114 and it is expected to be ratified by the Guinness Book of Records within the next few months.

For a video of the feat see this news story on ABC TV and another one on the BBC TV.

The youngest was 12-years old and the oldest water skier was 60.
