Easyjet launches winter timetable
Saturday May 9, 2009 - Email this article to a friend

The season has barely ended and the no-frills airline, popular with skiers and snowboarders, starts selling flights for next winter.

It’s the earliest time it has launched its winter schedule from Gatwick.

There are some good bargains but the peak times are still expensive; a return flight at half term in February 2010 will set you back up to £278.98 per person.

However, a month earlier, and still Saturday to Saturday, it is just £71.97, while a one-way mid-week ticket in January to Geneva is £18.99.

So, why has the airline released part of its winter schedule so early?

“Whilst most of us are eagerly awaiting our summer holiday we know that people want to escape the doom and gloom of the credit crunch and book their important holidays now; such as their ski break or Christmas holiday,” says Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK regional general manager. “We have also increased daily frequencies on some of our new routes from Gatwick because they have proved so popular with customers. Zurich and Vienna increase to twice daily whilst Munich becomes a 3 times a day service.”

It will be interesting to see if people actually book a flight at this time of year for next winter, perhaps the airline is concerned about the downturn in the business and just wants to get some bookings, and money, in early.

Here at PlanetSKI we have booked for the October half-term (£68.98 return to Geneva) and intend to be in Saas Fee, Switzerland. Again.

We have started our season there for the past 4 years and made the video below last October. So if you want to see what skiing is like that early then take a look.
