Saudi Arabia to get indoor Snow Centre
Thursday April 4, 2013 - Email this article to a friend

A new Snow Village is due to open in Saudi Arabia this autumn. It is being built as part of the Mall of Arabia in Jeddah, one of the largest shopping malls in the Middle East.

The Snow Village will be the first of a new generation of winter themed indoor real snow and ice amusement parks.

Covering approximately 5,000 square metres there will not be one snow slope but instead some 15 snow and ice fun rides and attractions for children and families.

Mall of Arabia's visitors will apparently be "beamed" into a fantastic Arctic and snowy mountain landscape with huts, trees, snowfall and sound and light effects as well as Polar bear animatronics.

The rides and attractions include various snow mountain slides, a snowball arena, a snowball throwing challenge, snow diggers and snow play.

There will be an explorer snow circuit with snowmobiles, a snow carousel, bumper cars and alpine curling on ice, and an ice-carving igloo.

And if that is not enough the developers promise glacier ice climbing, an expedition high ropes course with thrill jump, a reindeer rodeo simulator, snowman wrestling, winter themed climbing and an Arctic theatre showing Arctic related films from National Geographic and the like.

The ambient temperature will be close to freezing so warm boots, and clothing are provided to all visitors.

Kids also receive helmets for a safe travel during their Arctic exploration.

No ski or board facilities will be included in the complex but the real snow tubing slides will be suitable for all ages.

The Snow Mountain Bob Run consists of three different waving slides with safe outruns.

The first is a moderate 19 degrees family slide.

The next two slides are steeper and more challenging.

There are special single and double tubes and parents can take a small child on their lap.

The 12-metre high starting platform can be reached with a convenient conveyor belt.

The Snow Village is the work of Amsterdam-based Unlimited Snow, which claims to provide solutions for all imaginable snow and ice leisure experiences with its creations and is known for its innovative and original concepts.
