Lindsey Vonn on road to recovery
Thursday May 2, 2013 - Email this article to a friend

The US skier says rehab is going well and she is on course for the 2014 Winter Olympics. It follows her crash at the World Champs where she tore her ACL. She has posted pictures of her road back to fitness.

She is the reigning downhill Olympic gold medalist and one of the greatest female skiers of all time.

At the World Championships in Schladming she was helicoptered off the hill with a ripped anterior cruciate ligament after an accident on the first day.

She was flown back to the USA where she underwent surgery.

We reported on it at the time here on PlanetSKI.

She has now announced that she no longer wears her knee brace all the time and will be back on snow by late summer.

She claims this will be enough time to train for the Sochi Games next February.

"I'm still in rehab, things are going really well. The knee is coming along quite nicely. But I should start skiing in September and everything's right on track for the Olympics in February," she said to US media at a charity dinner in New York.

"I just dumped the brace. This is my first trip without the brace, so I'm really excited. But, unfortunately my doctor wants me to ski with it for a while, so still gonna be difficult. I can't get rid of it entirely, unfortunately."

On her Facebook page she has posted pictures of her re-hab.

"Saturday morning upper body session."
