The Czech Republic is hit the hardest and Austria badly affected after heavy rain hits the Northern Alps. At least 10 people have died.

Towns in the east of the Czech Republic have been the worst affected.

2 brothers deid in a house as they tried to save their mother from rising flood waters. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and the military is helping out.

There are the worst floods in Northern Morovai for more than a decade.  The rain has eased off but more is set to come.

In recent days here on PlanetSKI we have been reporting on how the bad weather has affected Austria, bringing snow in places and also some flooding problems.

Thousands of people in the emergency services evacuated scores of residents in Upper Austria, Burgenland, Lower Austria and Styria from hundreds of houses that were badly damaged by floods.

Around 2,500 fire-fighters from 187 units and 550 soldiers have been on duty in Lower Austria, pumping out flooded cellars and clearing streets.

In some places more rain has fallen in the last 72 hours than normally falls in 2 months.

The rain though has fallen as snow in some of the glacier resorts in Austria.  Read about it in our snow overview.

Parts of Germany and Poland have also been affected by the flooding that has barely registered on other British news sites.

We will bring you an updated report on conditons later today.
