Andorra freezes lift ticket price
Sunday September 6, 2009 - Email this article to a friend

The lift passes in Grandvalira will cost the same as last year. With an expected better exchange rate real prices may actually fall.

The cost of a lift pass in Andorra has shot up in recent years.

It used to be one of the cheapest but with the expansion of the lift system and its market re-positioning it had one of the sharpest price rises of any ski area over the last few years.

That has now changed.

The cost of a Grandvalira high-season, six day, adult lift ticket will cost 213 € next winter.

Andorra is a favourite of ours at PlanetSKI with some under-rated off piste and the little-known resort of Arcalis punches well above its weight.  See this PlanetSKI guide.

It’s decision to move upmarket several years ago is still a gamble that has not yet paid off.

It decided to shed its cheap and cheerful product and spend large amounts on upgrading lifts, hotels and other facilities.

Prices went up accordingly.

Now only 7% of British people ski there, but 8 years ago it was 13.8%.  They do though spend more money.
