The Club has taken over one of its main rivals in the off piste & adventure holiday markets.

The Ski Club of Great Britain runs its own successful and profitable holidays division, Freshtracks.

One part of the programme is its off piste adventure holidays with qualified mountain guides.

They have proved very succesful with many holidays selling out fast and have been an area of growth for the Ski Club.

Now it has obtained a rival for an undisclosed sum.

Mountain Tracks, set up by guide Nick Parks in 2000, has focussed on delivering mountain experiences to help each individual achieve their personal goals off piste.

"The two companies will continue to operate under their respective brand names as continuity is important to all of our customers," commented the CEO Ski Club of Great Britain, Frank McCusker.

"This is a really exciting development for Mountain Tracks, I believe our winter programme ideally complements Ski Club Freshtracks's and gives us the opportunity to offer our customers new adventures both in summer and winter," added Nick Parks from Mountain Tracks.

The Ski Club has been looking for areas of expansion as its overall membership levels decline.

These have included the possibility of publishing a ski guidebook and other areas of development within the industry.

It is currently trying to sell its offices and clubhouse in Wimbledon and has had its leading service in France ended.

An appeal against the French legal move is underway and it now offers instructor-led guiding instead.

PlanetSKI will be in Zinal & Grimentz in Switzerland next weekend and will be skiing with Nick Parks from Mountain Tracks.

So if you want to read about the fabulous off piste adventures on offer and what the company is all about then do check back.

With luck there will even be some fresh snow as the weather is set to change at the end of the week.
