No need to strip
Wednesday October 14, 2009 - Email this article to a friend

A new scanning machine at Manchester airport does it for the security officials. But not everyone is happy with being seen naked.

The airport has just introduced a machine that produces naked images of passengers as they pass though airport security.

As well as knives, bombs and the like it also shows up breasts enlargements, body piercings and an outline of a passengers genitals.

The machine costs £80,000 and means that passengers will not have to take off their belts, coats, shoes or undergo a body search.

"Most passengers do not like the 'pat down' service," said a spokeswoman for the airport, Sarah Barrett. "The scanner completely takes away the need to undress."

She added that the images would be seen by one officer in a remote location and would not be recorded.

Passengers have the right to refuse to be scanned by the new machine, at Manchester's Terminal 2.

So, guys if you have a Prince Albert you have been warned!
