Ski taxi
Sunday October 18, 2009 - Email this article to a friend
For the non-skier, the beginner skier or the just plain lazy you can now be taken round the pistes of couple of French resorts in a ski-taxi. So what an earth is it?
It is actually a converted 'sit-ski' more often associated with allowing people with a disability learn to ski.
A qualified instructor does all the hard work and the passenger just sits back an admires the view.
It is a great way for people to get to a restaurant or meeting point up on the slopes when it is not connected to a gondola or chairlift.
Chatel and Meribel is offering the service with a number of other resorts planning a similar service if it proves to be popular.
According to Meribel "It is an ingenious new means of travelling round the slopes and reaching the most beautiful spots in the Trois Vallees, while enjoying the sensation of gliding across the snow."
