MOGULS FOR 2022 GAMES
Wednesday August 30, 2017 - Email this article to a friend

British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) launch new Moguls programme to support British skiers en route to success at top competition level.

Last season a new performance director was appointed in BSS.

Headed by Dan Hunt, the Moguls scheme will help to develop skiers on their journeys through World Championships and world class events.

It is not the first new programme initiated by Hunt and proves the UK's dedication to becoming more comptetitive through all ski disciplines.

There is also a new Moguls Head Coach.

Bertrand Couette, the former head coach for France, is world-class.

Thomas Gerken-Schofield, Leonie Gerken-Schofield, Makayla Gerken-Schofield and Will Feneley are our mogul skiers coming through the ranks and looking good in the past few years at junior level.

Now it's time to look to even bigger competitions.
The 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games are perhaps too soon to expect medal results from this initiative.

The aim is Beijing 2022 to see our Mogul skiers on the podium.

Newly appointed Head of Talent, Mark Ritchie, will work with Couette to help breed and bring through young British Moguls talent.

"I'm absolutely delighted to announce that BSS now has a programme in place to support senior British Moguls skiers targeting success at World Championships and Olympic Games," British Ski and Snowboard Performance Director Dan Hunt said.

"Our goal within Moguls is very clear, and that is to become podium competitive by Beijing 2022.

"We believe that we now have the athletes capable of doing that and we want to support them in the best possible way.

"We are excited to be working with world-class coach Bertrand Couette, and believe he has the talent and skills to take the programme forward.

"Whilst PyeongChang 2018 is too soon to expect medal results, we hope that if we have athletes that qualify, they will gain invaluable Games-time experience."
